What is the Compassionate Ground Appointment Scheme?
The Compassionate Ground Appointment Scheme is a welfare initiative by the Government of India for paramilitary forces including Assam Rifles. Under this scheme, one dependent family member of a deceased, medically discharged, killed-in-action, or missing-in-service soldier is given priority consideration for government employment. This 2026 recruitment cycle opens 117 posts across general duty and technical trades.
Eligibility — Who Can Apply?
Only one dependent family member of Assam Rifles personnel from the following four categories is eligible to apply:
Killed in Action (KIA) — Personnel who lost their life while serving in combat or operational duty
Died while in service — Personnel who passed away during service tenure due to illness, accident, or other causes
Discharged on medical grounds — Personnel invalidated out of service due to disability or medical condition contracted during service
Missing while in service — Personnel who went missing and have not been traced while serving
Only one dependent per qualifying family may apply. Multiple applications from the same family will lead to disqualification.

Important Dates & Pay Scale
The cut-off date for reckoning minimum and maximum age limit is 01 January 2026. The recruitment rally will tentatively be held in July / August 2026 at Lokhra, Assam. Firm reporting date will be communicated by registered post and email. Selected candidates will receive pay scale and all allowances as admissible to regular Assam Rifles personnel under applicable government rules.
